You’ll need to provide one of the following forms of ID. The details must match the name on your Defence Discount Service account and, where applicable, the service number you signed up with.
Certificate of Service / Record of Service
Certificate of Discharge
Armed Forces pension document (showing you’re in receipt of an Armed Forces pension)
Previous Armed Forces payslip
Veteran UK letter addressed to you
Veteran ID card
Defence Discount Service card (showing the HM Armed Forces Veteran category)
Merchant Navy Veteran ID
Certificate of Service showing your name and service number, alongside your Merchant Navy Veterans badge

When signing up, please select HM Armed Forces Veteran, not Regular Serving Armed Forces.
⚠️ Common reasons an ID may be declined
The name on your documentation doesn’t match your account
You uploaded a page of your service record that doesn’t show your name
You uploaded documents we can’t accept (e.g. Veterans Railcard, Association card, medals, or Veterans badge)
